Villages under GO 111 need development on par with rest of Hyderabad

Telangana Developers Association President GV Rao

Telangana Developers Association President GV Rao has emphasied the need to deal the development of 84 villages under GO 111 encompassing 1.32 lakh acres of land, as a socio-economic issue. Interacting with Real Estate Guru, Rao shared his perspectives on the lifting of GO 111 and proposed strategies for the transformation of these villages.

“The decision to lift GO 111 was influenced by the pleas of the villagers who expressed concerns about their lack of development and inadequate access to infrastructure, especially in comparison to the rest of Hyderabad. However, it should be carefully examined whether this move would ultimately benefit or hinder Hyderabad. Action should be taken to implement measures that would bring economic prosperity to the villages while also fostering social advantages for the city. In particular, environmental preservation is very important to adverse impact on Hyderabad. The formulation of a comprehensive master plan should be centered on environmental protection. Key issues that require attention include effective rainwater diversion into reservoirs, sewage water management and treatment, the development of transportation facilities, and the preservation of greenary in the area.

One of the major challenges will be the inadequate sewerage infrastructure in the 84 villages and to address this, modern sewage treatment plants should be installed. If these measures are executed successfully, the 84 villages could potentially be designated as heritage villages, enabling their preservation for future generations. Environmental protection should be the primary focus. There should be a planned approach to development, with the creation of a sports arena within one kilometre radius after the buffer zone of the reservoirs, followed by an academic zone in the subsequent kilometer, and allowing residential zones from the third to eighth kilometer. Further, the development of hotels and resorts can be allowed for another kilometer stretch, as well as the encouragement of IT corridors along routes such as Hyderabad to Shankarpally, Shankarpally to Chevella, and Hyderabad to Shamshabad. The possibility f developing the area into a planned city, drawing inspiration from the successful model of Chandigarh.”
