HC says no to Sunil Mantri’s plea

The Bombay High Court turned down the plea filed by Sunil Mantri, former chairman of Mantri Realty Limited, seeking permission for him to go to Nepal for one week to attend the marriage of a friend’s daughter. The court expressed its inability to permit him to leave the country as it would affect the interests of his creditors.

Sunil owed Rs 300 crore to his creditors. As he failed to clear the loan, his organizations are locked under liquidity proceedings. In this backdrop, he sought court permission to go to Nepal to attend a friend’s daughter’s wedding. Since Sunil is the main accused facing several charges in the case, allowing him to leave the country would create panic among his creditors and would be skeptical about his returning to the country. That is why, it expressed its inability to permit Sunil to leave the shores of the country.
