Haryana RERA sets example for Telangana

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who is keen to enter national politics, should understand how excellently the Haryana RERA works. The CM should inspect the RERA of the state of Haryana, which is adjacent to Delhi. It may be recalled that the Haryana RERA imposed a fine of Rs 2.5 crore on a builder who sold plots in real estate venture that was not registered with the Haryana RERA. The hefty fine will act as a deterrent to prevent builders from taking liberties.

But, what is happening in Telangana? The Telangana RERA has become reportedly ineffective. Some realtors and developers are behaving as they liked ignoring the existence of the RERA. They even sell plots in pre-launch events of projects, week-end villas and farm-land plots and duping the public. Is it not the responsibility of the government to check such irregularities?

Haryana RERA took a serious view of a builder selling plots without first registering the venture with it. It served notice on the builder and asked him to pay the fine within a month of receiving the notice. The Brahma City Private Limited launched a project called Brahma City from Sector 62 to 65 of Gurugram in Haryana. But, it did not register the project with Haryana RERA. It sold 219 plots in violation of rules. When the matter came to the notice of the RERA, it imposed Rs 2.5 crore towards fine on the builder.
