DLF ordered to pay compensation to couple

The Consumer Disputes ‘Redressal Commission in Chandigarh has ordered the DLF Homes to pay Rs 1.35 lakh towards compensation to the couple who suffered mental agony due to the serious delay in delivery of the flat. The commission ordered payment of the compensation within 30 days of the issue of the order to the couple Lt. Gen. KJ Singh and his wife Anita Singh.

If the payment is not made within 30 days, the compensation should be paid along with 9 % interest till the date when the amount would be paid. Further, the sale deed related to the unit purchased by them was also ordered to be done in the name of Anita Singh within 30 days. In case the complainant is due to pay stamp duty for the sale deed, then the period of 30 days will be applicable from the date of payment.

In 2010, Anita Singh her spouse bought a unit in the DLF Valley, Panchkula. But, the company did not hand it over to the couple within the stipulated time, forcing the victims to approach the Consumer Disputes’ Redressal Commission.
