Appoint Rera Appellate Tribunal in Telangana

The Forum for Good Governance on Thursday demanded that the Telangana state government appoint a full-fledged RERA as well as an appellate tribunal. The RERA Act came into force in 2016 in the country, but it was enforced in Telangana in 2018. Ever since its constitution, it registered real estate projects, but the problems in the sector largely remained unresolved.

The RERA came into being to protect the interests of home buyers and to bring greater transparency in the realty sector. Following the constitution of the RERA, the regulatory authority and an appellate tribunal should be set up within a year, but it was not taking place no matter how many petitions have been submitted to the government in this regard. “We filed a plea in the High Court on this issue, but the government is yet to file a counter to the plea,” Forum for Good Governance Secretary Padmanabha Reddy remarked.
