One Nation, One RERA: Unified Portal Brings Transparency to Real Estate

REG News, New Delhi Sep 09: In a major reform to bolster residential transparency and streamline property verification, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has unveiled a Unified RERA Portal (rera.mohua.gov.in)— a centralized platform that gathers real estate project data from across all states and union territories.

What Is the Unified RERA Portal?

Launched during the 5th Central Advisory Council (CAC) meeting, the portal (accessible via rera.mohua.gov.in) consolidates every state’s RERA data into a single interface, making it easier for homebuyers, developers, and regulators to access verified project details nationwide. This includes approvals, project timelines, builders' track records, and complaint redressal statuses.

Why It Matters

Enhanced Transparency for Buyers: Users can now practically eliminate endless follow-ups by checking project approvals, RERA registration, progress updates, and developer compliance history in one place. “It will cut down the need for endless follow-ups,” said industry leader Mr Shekar Reddy.

Developer Convenience & Accountability: The unified platform standardizes reporting, making it easier for developers to upload updates and remain compliant. “It will lessen the burden for both buyers and developers,” noted Kondaiah from Yula Group. Nationwide Visibility & Best-Practice Sharing: The portal encourages states and union territories to adopt uniform RERA norms and learn from each other’s success models. Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar highlighted the portal as a “major step towards empowering homebuyers and ensuring timely project delivery.”

What’s in the System?

The unified database currently covers data from 35 States and Union Territories, encapsulating over 1,51,113 registered projects and 1,06,545 agents. The CAC also urged states to adopt Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for RERA’s effective enforcement and to expedite completion of stalled projects.

What Experts Say

MS Raju, a real estate analyst, called it an “incredible support for buyers in the digital age.” Prabhakar Rao, another developer, described it as a critical transparency booster. Credai Telangana Secretary Ajay Kumar labeled it a “pivotal advancement” offering real-time project access and greater industry discipline.

Challenges Ahead

Privacy and data accuracy remain concerns. Activists point to outdated info or opaque data entries in some state portals affecting the reliability of the unified system. Continuous updates and user accountability will be key to its success.
